Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of school events or for the daily morning announcements? From setting up the microphones for the early morning announcements, school events or the assemblies in the school hall. The technical team is always on call. But what's it like to be part of this team? Let's take a peek into the daily life of a sound team member.

Our day starts early, around 06:45. One of the members arrive at school and head to the sound room to check the sound equipment and ensure everything is working smoothly. We test the microphones, speakers and audio interfaces to make sure they're ready for the morning announcements.

Not everything goes smoothly when working with the equipment and one of the most common issues we often face is unstable connections or distortion during the announcements or presentations in the hall. Being apart of the team often teaches you to troubleshoot problems quickly and effectively without having the quality of the sound sound suffer.

As the sound team, our tasks vary widely. One minute we’re setting up a sound system for a school event and the next we’re helping a teacher troubleshoot audio and visual issues with a presentation. We love the challenge of figuring out what's going on and finding a solution.

We are not alone in this role. Our technical team works closely with teachers, staff and presenters to ensure that everything runs smoothly. We communicate regularly, sharing knowledge and expertise to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.

Being part of the sound team has its perks. We get to work with amazing people, learn new skills, and make a real difference in the school community. Plus, we get to see the impact of our work first hand – whether it's a successful school event or a seamless presentation.

We may not always be in the spotlight but the sound team plays a vital role in keeping the school's events running smoothly. If you're interested in the sound team and want to make a difference, consider joining the team. It's a great way to develop new skills, build relationships and contribute to the school community.

So, the next time you're at a school event and the sound is pumping out perfectly and everything is going great always remember the sound team working behind the scenes to make it all happen!
