The Ferdies Ferals is Ferdinand Postma’s initiative to support and protect the feral cat population which has been given a home within our school grounds. They remain ever elusive to the student population, but can occasionally be spotted walking across roofs or napping beneath trees in quiet hours. Yet simply providing a safe home is not enough, the ferals must be fed as well.

To feed a group of 20 cats daily is a difficult and expensive task for the teachers who provide for the cats from their own savings. Due to this the Ferdies Feral Food Drive was held on the (add date) as the most recent in a line of charity event to provide for the cats.
The Food Drive sold many animal-themed paraphernalia including lanyards, keychains, enamel pins, socks, pens, stickers, calendars and even sweet treats such as brownies and fudge. Entry for a funko pop raffle was held, for which it seemed many aimed for the figurine of the dog from the Grinch film out of the Funko Pops. During the food drive quite a few generous souls were able to bring bags of cat food as donations.

All in all, the Ferdies Feral Food Drive ended in success with an overwhelming majority of stock sold and donations aplenty. For now, the cats will be remain fed thanks to the ongoing efforts of the Ferdies Ferals with kudos to the main teacher involved, Mrs Labuschagne, and all the students who spent their break helping to run the stall.
