In a land filled with diversity, Heritage Day allows us to reflect on our cultural heritage which is shaped by our country’s complex history, and to celebrate who we are and where we come from.

On this day, Ferdie learners went all out with traditional attire and food. Thanks to the dedication of the Culture Committee, our school proudly showcased a recreation of a traditional wedding as well as a Paris walk.
The wedding showcase captured the beauty of African traditions, reminding us of the importance of preserving and sharing these customs. The Paris walk added some flair, with learners confidently presenting their cultural fashion on the runway.
An additional highlight of the celebration were the food stalls: from amagwinya to koeksisters, learners and teachers had the chance to enjoy flavours that reflected the diversity of our nation.
In short, Heritage Day at Ferdies was not just a celebration, but also a chance to unite us as a school by embracing our roots and appreciating one another’s traditions.
