On the 26th of February, the Interact group came together with one goal: to make a difference, no matter how small. A group of learners gathered to create heartfelt cards for hospital patients, as well as for the staff who work tirelessly day and night.
Every single card was made with genuine love and compassion. It wasn’t just about the final product - it was also a meaningful bonding experience for people who share a passion for helping others.
The 5th of March arrived quicker than expected, and everyone who could attend the visit to Lenmed took the opportunity. Walking into the hospital was a humbling experience from the very beginning. We started by handing out the cards we had made, moving from room to room. Meeting the patients face to face was an eye opening experience.
It made us realise something important: you can have everything in the world, but without your health, it doesn’t mean much.
After giving out the cards to both patients and staff, there was a noticeable shift in all of us. It felt like we had gained a new perspective on life - one that we wouldn’t forget anytime soon. We then returned to school, carrying that lesson with us.
So to all Ferdie learners, if there’s one thing to take away from this experience, it’s this: appreciate what you have. Gratitude goes a long way!
